Erasmus+

The current Lifelong Learning Programme ends in 2013. Erasmus+, previously known as Erasmus for All or YES Europe is the new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport. This programme replace seven existing programmes with one: it brings together the existing Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius and Grundtvig), Youth in Action, and five international cooperation programmes (Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink and the programme for cooperation with industrialised countries). It is estimated to start in January 2014.

BASIC SERVICES

This are the basic services required for the organisation of the programme:

a) Accommodation: including the most suitable accommodation to every group according to their specific needs. It can be organised in apartments where trainees can cook by themselves or in hotels of different standards.

b) Local transport: including the transport necessary for the programme activities.

c) Administration and management (organisation of the programme, monitoring, mentoring, evaluation and certification)

OPTIONAL SERVICES

M.E.P. can also offer a wide range of optional services covering everything that the group may need from the moment in which they arrive to Spain to the moment when they leave such as:

a) Meals (i.e. offering breakfast, lunch and dinner or a combination of them)

b) Airport Transfer (door-to-door from the airport to accommodation place on the day of arrival and from the accommodation place to the airport on the day of departure)

c) Pedagogical, Linguistic and Cultural training (i.e. Spanish language course completely tailored and adapted to the speciality of every group)

d) Cultural Activities and Visits: MEP offers a full range of cultural and leisure activities in Granada (which can last half-day or whole-day like visit to Alhambra, Discovering Granada in Depth, Flamenco evening, etc.), and trips to other cities in Andalusia or in other parts of Spain. We are also able to personalise a trip or activity to suit your needs.

LEONARDO DA VINCI MOBILITY IVTMobility actions enable people to travel abroad to have a learning or training experience.People in Initial Vocational Training ("IVT") can do work-related training abroad. Participants can still be at school or college or in alternative VET schemes (apprentices).

A transnational mobility in initial vocational training consists in a training placement for a period of vocational training and/or work experience undertaken by an individual participant (apprentice, pupil, trainee, etc in IVT) in an enterprise or a training institution in another participating country.

Duration of the stay can last:

- Minimum 2 weeks.

- Maximum 39 weeks.

LEONARDO DA VINCI MOBILITY PLM

Mobility actions enable people to travel abroad to have a learning or training experience. "People in the labour market" (‘PLM’) actions enable people after graduation in vocational training or higher education to have a work-related training abroad in order to improve their employment potential.

A transnational mobility for People in the Labour Market consists in a training placement for a period of vocational training and/or work experience undertaken by an individual participant in an enterprise or a training institution in another participating country.

Duration of the stay can last:

- Minimum 2 weeks.

- Maximum 26 weeks.

LEONARDO DA VINCI MOBILITY VETPRO

Mobility actions enable people to travel abroad to have a learning or training experience. Professionals in vocational education and training (‘VETPRO’) can exchange experiences abroad to improve their skills and knowledge.

A Mobility project for Professionals in Vocational Education and Training focuses on the transfer, improvement and update of competences and/or of innovative methods and practices in the field of vocational training. Individual trainers, teachers or other persons responsible for Vocational training issues will exchange experiences with their counterparts in other countries with the aim of mutual learning. It can also cover vocational language learning of professionals (VOLL).

Duration of the stay can last:

- Minimum 1 week.

- Maximum 6 weeks.

IT IS TIME FOR PREPARATORY VISITS

Dear partners and friends,

The time for preparatory visits is here and now! It is the best moment for asking to your National Agency for a preparatory visit to meet us in Granada and prepare your new project proposal for Leonardo da Vinci Mobility projects (IVT, PLM and VETPRO) and Erasmus placement projects for 2013.

In the following link you can find all necessary information about how to apply for a preparatory visit: http://ec.europa.eu/education/llp/call12_en.htm.

Preparatory visits are aimed at helping to establish contacts with prospective partners in view of entering into closer co-operation.

The aim of the preparatory visits is to help institutions which meet the requirements for the

Leonardo da Vinci and wishing to establish a new mobility project to contact and meet suitable partner institutions and / or develop a work plan to prepare the application for project / partnership.

Any institution wishing to establish a new project in Leonardo da Vinci Mobility actions can apply for a grant for enabling one member of their staff for a visit. The visit can be made in the following way:

- Visit to a potential partner institution in another country participating in the Lifelong Learning Programme (i.e. M.E.P. Eurprojects Granada).

Preparatory visits allow potential partners to meet in order to:

- Define goals, objectives and methodology of a future project.

- Define partner roles, responsibilities and tasks in a future project.

- Develop a work plan for a future project, including methods for monitoring,

evaluation and dissemination.

- Fill the application form of project

Requirements for approval:

1. Content and duration

The program for the mobility action is clear and reasonable; its duration is realistic and

adequate.

2. Relevance

There is a clear connection between the activities and strategy of the institution from which the

applicant and the purpose and content of the preparatory visit.

Characteristics of a Preparatory visit (PV):

• Duration: 1 to 5 days.

• You can apply any time of the year, with an advance of one month prior to the start of the visit.

• must target a member of the LLP different from the sending country (EU member states and Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Croatia).

• You can visit two cities in the same country or from two different countries.

• They are designed for a single participant, in very exceptional situations may be requested the presence of a second participant (not for reasons of insufficient language skills, protocol or institutional representation).

• The maximum grant that is awarded depends on each country, check in your National Agency website: http://ec.europa.eu/education/lifelong-learning-programme/national_en.htm.

• You can only make one visit per call, even if the institution will participate in more than one Leonardo da Vinci project. Attending a contact seminar counts as preparatory visit.

• Preparatory visits should always apply to future projects, not for a project that has already been approved.

It is very important to apply for preparatory visits because it gives extra points to your application when you will submit it so that your possibilities to get the approval get considerably enhanced.

Erasmus for all, the future of Life-Long Learning programme from 2014 to 2020

Erasmus for All: 5 million in line for EU funding

Brussels, 23 November 2011 - Up to 5 million people, almost twice as many as now, could get the chance to study or train abroad with a grant from Erasmus for All, the new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport proposed by the European Commission today. Among them would be nearly 3 million higher education and vocational students. Master's degree students would also benefit from a new loan guarantee scheme set up with the European Investment Bank Group. The seven-year Erasmus for All programme, which would have a total budget of €19 billion, is due to start in 2014.

"Investing in education and training is the best investment we can make for Europe's future. Studying abroad boosts people's skills, personal development and adaptability, and makes them more employable. We want to ensure that many more people benefit from EU support for these opportunities. We also need to invest more to improve the quality of education and training at all levels so we are a match for the best in the world and so that we can deliver more jobs and higher growth," said Androulla Vassiliou, Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth.

The Commission's Erasmus for All proposal would allow:

· 2.2 million higher education students to receive grants to spend part of their education and training abroad (compared to 1.5 million under current programmes);

· This figure includes 135 000 students getting support to study in a non-EU country, as well as non-EU students coming to study in the Union;

· 735 000 vocational students would be able to spend part of their education and training abroad (compared to 350 000 under the current programme);

· 1 million teachers, trainers and youth workers would receive funding to teach or train abroad (compared to 600 000 under current programmes);

· 700 000 young people would go on traineeships in companies abroad (compared to 600 000 under the current programme);

· 330 000 Master's degree students would benefit from loan guarantees to help finance studies abroad under a brand-new scheme;

· 540 000 young people would be able to volunteer abroad or participate in youth exchanges (compared to 374 000 under the current programme);

· 34 000 students would receive grants for a 'joint degree', which involves studying in at least two higher education institutions abroad (this compares to 17 600 supported under the current programme);

· 115 000 institutions/organisations involved in education, training and/or youth activities or other bodies would get funding to set up more than 20 000 'strategic partnerships' to implement joint initiatives and promote exchange of experience and know-how;

· 4 000 education institutions and enterprises would form 400 'knowledge alliances' and 'sector skills alliances' to boost employability, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Background

Erasmus for All would bring together all the current EU and international schemes for education, training, youth and sport, replacing seven existing programmes ¹with one. This will increase efficiency, make it easier to apply for grants, as well as reducing duplication and fragmentation.

The Commission is proposing an increase of approximately 70% compared to the current seven-year budget, which would allocate €19 billion to the new programme in 2014-2020. The figure takes account of future estimates for inflation and includes expenditure foreseen for international cooperation.

The new programme will focus on EU added value and systemic impact, with support for three types of action: learning opportunities for individuals, both within the EU and beyond; institutional cooperation between educational institutions, youth organisations, businesses, local and regional authorities and NGOs; and support for reforms in Member States to modernise education and training systems and promote innovation, entrepreneurship and employability.

Two-thirds of the funding would be spent on mobility grants to enhance knowledge and skills.

The streamlined structure of the new programme – together with its significantly increased investment – means the EU will be able to deliver many more opportunities for students, trainees, young people, teachers, youth workers and others to improve their skills, personal development and job prospects. Erasmus for All will also promote research and teaching on European integration, and support grassroots sport.

Since 2007, an average of 400 000 people per year have received EU grants for study, training and volunteering abroad. Under the Commission's proposal, this figure would nearly double to almost 800 000. (In 2010, 560 000 received grants in the 27 Member States, see Annex 1).

Next steps

This proposal is now under discussion by the Council (27 Member States) and the European Parliament who will take the final decision on the budgetary framework for 2014-2020.
